Apple Remote and Microsoft Remote

Just look at the 2 remote in the picture, you can learn the different way they design their products.

The Microsoft Remote needs 2 AA battery and you have to change it every 6 month; however, Apple Remote just needs a button battery, and you needn’t change battery for years.

Apple Remote have 6 buttons, enough for music and video control or even control slides during lecture; and Microsoft Remote: 46 buttons! Come on, I just want to watch a movie and make the sound a little louder.

Apple Remote is no more larger than chewing gum； Microsoft Remote is larger than a hand gun.

You can use Apple Remote the moment you buy it, without any “Manual”; however, you can not skillfully use Microsoft Remote without reading the manual less than 10 times.

Maybe you will say: Yes, apple is fantastic, but microsoft is powerful!

OK, Apple think, if we just need 6 buttons in 99% of the time we use remote, why take a 46-button-big-freak? To make your remote seems powerful? And if you really need additional function in the lucky-1%-time, just take a bluetooth keyboard!

The same thing happened between MSN and iChat—-the 2 IM client made by Microsoft and Apple (you can use iChat to launch MSN, here is the way).

msn_messenger

Frinds, Ringtone, eBay, Stock……it even can not show all function buttons in one MSN window! But in 99% times I spent on MSN, I just want to chat with my friend (and maybe, send files to someone).

ichat-messenger-client-window

ichat_chat window

Look at iChat, you can chat with friends (text, audio, video) or send files to them and—–nothing. Want to see stock trend? Open the stock software on your Mac! And also the stock software have no more annoying additional features to make it seems powerful.

So you know the difference between Apple and Microsoft? One will try his best to make the products useful and one will try to make the products powerful.
