Although this is a good thing for data recovery or rescue purposes, it is so terrible to leak your personal data to others via hard disks installed on old computers. Eraser is an advanced security tool for Windows which allows you to completely remove sensitive data from your hard drive by overwriting it several times with carefully selected patterns.
Download a stable build from the official website, and then install the program.

Now you can erase any file or folder by right clicking the items, and select “Eraser” – “Erase” or “Erase on Restart” (if the file cannot be erased at the moment).

What’s more, double click the program icon in system tray, you can set erase schedule, erasure method and more options. It is worth noting that erase provides as many as 14 erasure algorithms, and by default it uses Gutmann(35 passes) erase method, which means 35 times of data rewriting. All functions are TOTALLY FREE!
File Shredder is free desktop application to securely shred files and folders on computer. Files deleted with File Shredder can not be retrieved back. File Shredder supports multiple shredding algorithms up to 7 passes, US government compliant DoD 5220-22.M, Guttman method, shell integration on right click in Windows, Disk Wiper to shred unused free space.

The same as Eraser introduced above, simply download and install the program, and then you can secure delete files via file context menu.

If you launch the program, you can view and process erase on scheduled files, or wipe free disk space. “Shredder Settings” offers you 5 secure algorithms for data erasing, if you don’t care the time, Gutmann(35 passes) are recommended.
